~Day 2 of Our Travels~

It's day 2 and its been quite a day! I was woken up in a bit of a rush. Jesse thought he'd wake me up last so I could make up for the sleep that I lost from 230 am on. It was very sweet of him. We got on the road before 730am and met the ground running. Coffee...Give me coffee! So, we fill up the car with gas and our cups with hot fresh coffee and we are off. We were only into our ride a few hours when we saw a sign for the Zoo in Ohio. Now, if you know me you KNOW I do NOT make suggestions to go off our a to b route but I knew that the coming week would be full of cramped living as we drive west so I suggested we take a detour and visit the zoo. We'd only been to one other one before in New York but it was when the kids were too young to remember.

The zoo was the best!!! I loved to see the tigers and the bears. Even the birds were fun to watch. Tessa loved the tigers and lions and to spite her ear ache, she totally forgot her pain it seemed and went back for a 2nd look at the big tiger. We weren't to happy with all the walking. I know that we are just sitting in our suv but with all the stuff packed in there, unless you are driving, you have to squish yourself in and bury yourself under computer bags and my pocketbook just to fit everything.

After our trip to the zoo we encountered a few problems. Construction, rain and our "service engine soon" light popped on. We pulled over to check our oil, coolant and other liquids but everything was fine and our car is reading everything just perfectly. If all that happens is the light I will be so very very very happy and grateful. We have a warranty on our truck but who wants to hunt down a chevy dealership and spend the day waiting for possible bad and costly news? Not us!!

Jesse drove ALL day today. I tell you, I cannot wait to get off my own medication for my painful ailments because its not easy to keep my eyes open over these very boring roads. Jesse was planning on driving through the night but I reminded him that we all need a good nights sleep, to stretch our legs out on a bed and to eat. Not to mention that my 14 year old daughter is suffering a very painful ear ache. (I hope it gets better overnight. I fear we may have to bring her to the ER before we even think of getting back on the road again.)

In Indiana somewhere we gained an hour so even though we traveled from about 730 am to 8 pm we have to add an hour to that. It is going to be interesting  when we gain another hour and another after that. Kevin has been keeping in touch by texting and calling to see how the kids are. Its nice. I know that I would not be strong enough to watch them go away from me. I am just so grateful that Kevin is okay with this and that he wants to see them over the summer. I don't even want to think about what that will mean to me come summertime. I have enough going on right now

By the way, to any family or friends we left behind without a proper goodbye...Please don't take it personally. It has been such a confusing and difficult time. We were not even sure we were going until we had no choice but to make the choice in the last 2 weeks. I wanted to write to everyone but with the way things were going, we didn't have much time. Just know that we love you no matter where we live.

One thing that occurred to me and the kids today is that we are homeless. Sure, we are on our way to California where we will find a home and until we do we will stay with Jesse's family but its so unexplainable to think that all we own and have is riding on the tires~and our driving skills~ of us and our Suv. God be with us on this trip. We need you more than ever. Love and Light, prayers and hope to all. Until tomorrow night....

  1. Be safe and know we love you too and we will "follow" you on your journey! Hoping Tessa's ear gets better.
